Why should I attend?

Rapidly evolving information and information technology practices continue to drive the development of ever more complex access & privacy issues.

Increasingly, the interconnectivity of systems and processes means that success in one endeavour is dependant on the connected programs that provide support. In other words the health of an access and privacy program depends on how organized, informed and privacy aware an institution is. A strong Information Management program is the key.

Institutions need to rationalize their resources for efficiency and good customer service. This can mean a series of well designed information policies and processes that benefit many programs.

Understanding how business programs feed off good information systems and how these systems work together is crucial to success. Education is a key tool for building strong access and privacy programs and ensuring that they are well integrated with the business objectives of public institutions.

This workshop is the prime Ontario Access and Privacy learning and networking opportunity. The complete and varied program provides relevant learning opportunities for many sectors of the public service. Experienced attendees will have the opportunity to better focus their skills with challenging advanced sessions. Those who are new to the field or the work less frequently can develop a solid grasp of the fundamentals through comprehensive introductory sessions.

With over 30 themed sessions available, the Workshop will deliver excellent value for any public servant who encounters Access to Information or Privacy, whether as their primary task or as an aspect of other service delivery.

Privacy Enhancing Technologies, Access & Privacy, Other Jurisdictions, and Information Management are some of the streams you will be able to participate in. In addition to these diverse subject areas, your "Information Management Landscape" will be enhanced with a series of engaging and relevant plenary speakers.

Of course, the Workshop also is a great opportunity to meet, network and share ideas with your access, privacy and technology colleagues from Ontario and Canada.

We urge you to join us if your work involves access, privacy, information and information technology, human resources, communications, policy development, records management or design of new government programs.
