Supporting Organizations
Office of the ATIPP Coordinator
The ATIPP Office is located in the Department of Justice. The Department of Justice has been assigned with the responsibility for the overall administration and coordination of the ATIPPA, which will involve the provision of support and leadership in the interpretation and application of the legislation. In order to help facilitate this mandate, the Department has established an Access to Information and Protection of Privacy (ATIPP) Office. While each public body is required to designate an access coordinator to process and respond to individual access requests, the ATIPP Office is responsible for ensuring that the ATIPPA is properly implemented and that it is administered on a consistent and efficient basis.
This new legislative regime has been designed to create a culture of openness and accountability in the public sector. Government and the ATIPP Office are committed to promoting this new culture and making this initiative a success.
