Conference Update!
The PIPA Conference 2006 is excited to announce that we have just added a new Optional Privacy Impact Assessment Full-day Workshop on April 28th. "Businesses need an effective method to assess potential impacts to privacy for any existing or proposed initiative (e.g. project, service delivery option, policy, new information system) involving personal information. The Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) allows organizations to implement new programs or information systems while balancing the need to protect personal information" This workshop will be facilitated by Karina Guy, Senior Manager Edmonton, Deloitte & Touche LLP. Karina has over 10 years of specialized consulting experience in Information Risk Management, Privacy and Security. For more on this workshop and Karina click here.
Welcome to the PIPA Conference 2006!
The Information & Privacy Commissioners of Alberta and British Columbia are proud to announce their inaugural conference on the Personal Information Protection Act.
As the regulatory bodies responsible for overseeing compliance with our provincial private sector privacy laws, we want these laws to work, for both business and the people of British Columbia and Alberta. Since PIPA arrived in British Columbia and in Alberta just over two years ago, our offices have gained considerable experience and expertise in private sector issues of all kinds. Our work has also made us aware of challenges private sector organizations face under these laws and some of the solutions businesses have developed to meet these challenges.
"Customers, Employees, and Privacy: An Educational Forum for Businesses" is a two-day event during which some of North America's leading privacy experts will share their insights in plenary and breakout sessions. The focus is on practical, real-world problems and solutions. Delegates will be able to choose breakout sessions geared towards customers, employees and compliance in their areas of interest. This forum offers an excellent opportunity to hear from the regulators and from stakeholders about challenges they have faced and solutions they have created.
We invite you and the members of your organization to join us for what we believe will be a highly informative, practical and engaging educational experience. The forum is priced to offer great value, at less than $500.00, including refreshment breaks, lunches and conference materials.
This conference is an event you will not want to miss!
