The purpose of the legislation is to govern the means by which organizations handle personal information in a manner that recognizes both the right of an individual to have his or her personal information protected and the need of organizations to collect, use or disclose personal information for purposes that are reasonable.
Sounds simple, right? Not exactly.
Organizations across British Columbia and Alberta have made great efforts to ensure compliance with these laws; however, there are always new challenges and issues to respond to.
